Jon Holbrook is no longer working at Cornerstone Barristers after he refused to delete a tweet criticising the Equality Act and schoolgirl Ruby Williams. Mr Holbrook - who has been a barrister for 30 years - retweeted a video about the case by the Equality and Human Rights Commission, raging against the Equality Act. After he refused to take down the January 17 post his association with Cornerstone Barristers was ended by the firm yesterday. Mr Holbrook has stood firm by his views however, claiming online that he has been "cancelled for challenging the woke" and that a "Twitterati of bien pensants " organised a pile-on against him.

In an essay online the lawyer wrote: "The only reason that Chambers proceeded to expel me, despite my reation, was because the salivating attack dogs wanted some red meat to chew. Mr Holbrook went on to write that he plans to finish his legal career doing pro bono work in unfair dismissal cases of "women sacked for saying that a woman does not have a penis", presumably referring to trans rights cases. Reacting to the news of his departure, Miss Williams, who is now studying at the University of Manchester, told the Daily Mail : "I am pleased that the chambers have taken this seriously and acted so quickly.

Urswick School's governing body agreed to the out-of-court settlement but denied Miss Williams was discriminated against and did not admit liability. Her family took legal action against the school in Hackney, east London, with the backing of the European Human Rights Commisssion. They claim Miss Williams, who was 14 at the time, was sent home while studying for her GCSEs for breaching the school's uniform policy. The family also claimed that in the teenager's Year 11 year book a photo of her from Year 7 was used where she had straight hair. Miss Williams herself said she felt humiliated and stressed for being sent home, after letting her natural hair grow.

She said: "The reason I was given is that my hair might block someone seeing the whiteboard or teacher. TV Films. Funeral Notices Horoscopes Offers Newsletter up. Voucher codes Asos Nike Argos.
